Well the Aussies lost a tough game against the Italians on a dodgy penalty, though to be fair the Italians were down to 10 men and never should have been.

Actually he should have. Apparently tackling with two straight legs with the soles up is a direct sending off at this World Cup. That's what Materazzi did, although he missed the Aussie and hit Zambrotta instead. Maybe that's why you think it wasn't a red card?   |

The penalty was clearly the most profitable dive so far in this WC.

I didn't think it was studs up, he came in from the side and if it was 2 footed I'd have seen that.
Materazzi is a donkey and has bad sideburns, but he should have stayed on the field. They will show it for ages on TV here and I will have a look again.

 Australia. Italy probably would've come out on top after extra time and penalties anyway but going out because of a penalty in the 93rd minute is very dissapointing. |

Poor Swiss! They went on for so long that I didn't get all of the game  but they lost on penalty kicks to the Ukraine and set some sort of record in the process. I forget what  But still. To fight so hard, defend so well, and still come out with the loss. Sigh. Does Ukraine stand a chance vs Italy? |

At least Aussie and Swiss teams didn't make asses out of themselves like the Swedes. Sweden-Germany must be the most one sided last 16 so far  . |
