Explore your profile - you can modify your own username by going to the box at the top of your profile page that says "Name: This is the displayed name that people will see". Fill in your modified name here. 
You can also have personalized text under your name/under your avatar. We have a "location" field now, and karma. "Exalt" = positive and "smite" = negative. You can only modify someone's karma once an hour.
You can stay logged in with a cookie forever - just choose said option when you log in, either at the top in the banner or at the bottom "quick login" box.
