I need a place to whine about Sweden's football team. They joined Denmark, Spain and England to lose against Northern Ireland in Euro 08 qualies today. That sucked! They were pretty confident before the match, said they were in their best form ever, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is one of the world's best players and of course they don't underestimate the lowly Northern Irish and bla blah blah. Losers.

And they said they should keep Northern Ireland's top scorer, Healy, in tight reins. After all Mellberg, one of our central defenders, plays for Aston Villa in the Premiership and Healy is only a sub for Leeds, who's at the bottom end of the English second division. Guess who scored both of Northern Ireland's goals?

What's up with the Super Irish team? Seems like they've gotten the better of several good teams, or so is my understanding from fleeting glances at the German news.

They're fighting for the loyalist cause? Or so I read in a Swedish paper. (The other) half of Northern Ireland cheers for the republic. One half cheers for Celtic, one for Rangers. I guess it's better than killing eachother.

Hm, between your Swedish newspaper and my German news, perhaps we can get the story on these Irish players.
Sigh. Ignore me. I've just read a bunch of articles about how much we Americans love accents other than our own...

Sweden and Spain will qualify anyway. They'll both beat NI at home et voila. Parties in NI have reached an agreement on a coalition, the Irish republicans and British unionists are going to form a government for the first time which ensures NI's autonomous status. Otherwise they would've continued to be governed by the UK. Maybe this inspired the football team My favorite Dutch player scored yesterday, yay Giovanni!

Sweden-Denmark is going to be mayhem. The hooligans will be out in force, especially in Copenhagen. I think Denmark considers themselves to be the better team. We think we're better. ;D
